MGait : Model-Based Gait Analysis Using Wearable Bend and Inertial Sensors
نویسندگان
چکیده
Movement disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease, affect more than 10 million people worldwide. Gait analysis is a critical step in the diagnosis and rehabilitation of these disorders. Specifically, stride lengths provide valuable insights into gait quality process. However, traditional approaches for estimating length are not suitable continuous daily monitoring since they rely on special mats clinical environments. To address this limitation, article presents novel practical step-length estimation technique using low-power wearable bend inertial sensors. Experimental results show that proposed model estimates with 5.49% mean absolute percentage error provides accurate real-time feedback to user.

Gait Kinematic Analysis in Water Using Wearable Inertial Magnetic Sensors
Walking is one of the fundamental motor tasks executed during aquatic therapy. Previous kinematics analyses conducted using waterproofed video cameras were limited to the sagittal plane and to only one or two consecutive steps. Furthermore, the set-up and post-processing are time-consuming and thus do not allow a prompt assessment of the correct execution of the movements during the aquatic ses...

Gait analysis using wearable sensors is an inexpensive, convenient, and efficient manner of providing useful information for multiple health-related applications. As a clinical tool applied in the rehabilitation and diagnosis of medical conditions and sport activities, gait analysis using wearable sensors shows great prospects. The current paper reviews available wearable sensors and ambulatory...
متن کاملA Wearable Gait Analysis System using Inertial Sensors Part II - Evaluation in a Clinical Setting
The gold standard for gait analysis, in-lab 3D motion capture, is not routinely used for clinical assessment due to limitations in availability, cost and required training. Inexpensive alternatives to quantitative gait analysis are needed to increase the its adoption. Inertial sensors such as accelerometers and gyroscopes are promising tools for the development of wearable gait analysis (WGA) s...
متن کاملGait Analysis Using Floor Markers and Inertial Sensors
In this paper, a gait analysis system which estimates step length and foot angles is proposed. A measurement unit, which consists of a camera and inertial sensors, is installed on a shoe. When the foot touches the floor, markers are recognized by the camera to obtain the current position and attitude. A simple planar marker with 4,096 different codes is used. These markers printed on paper are ...
متن کاملAnalysis of Indoor Rowing Motion using Wearable Inertial Sensors
In this exploratory work the motion of rowers is analyzed while rowing on a rowing machine. This is performed using inertial sensors that measure the orientation at several positions on the body. Using these measurements, this work provides a preliminary analysis of the differences between experienced and novice rowers, or between a good and a bad technique. The analysis shows that the measured...
